Safe Asbestos and Damp Removal in Cheshire and the North West
Asbestos and damp removal in Cheshire needs doing properly, once. We diagnose the actual cause, remove or treat it safely, and make good afterwards.
Both problems are common in the housing stock around Runcorn, Widnes and the wider north west. Anything built or refurbished before the year 2000 may contain asbestos, and the solid-wall Victorian terraces and 1960s system-built estates across the region are particularly prone to damp.
The mistake we are most often called in to correct is treating the symptom. Painting over black mould, or fitting a damp-proof course where the real problem is a failed gutter, buys a few months at most. We start by finding out what is actually happening, then quote for the fix.

Asbestos work is tightly regulated. Higher-risk materials such as sprayed coatings, lagging and most insulating board must be removed by an HSE-licensed contractor; lower-risk items such as asbestos cement and many floor tiles are non-licensed work. We carry out non-licensed removal ourselves and will tell you plainly when a job needs a licensed firm instead. The Health and Safety Executive asbestos guidance explains the distinction in full.
Damp: Finding the Real Cause
Damp falls into three broad categories, and they need completely different remedies. Penetrating damp comes in from outside through failed pointing, blocked gutters or cracked render. Rising damp travels up from the ground where a damp-proof course has failed or been bridged. Condensation is generated inside the property and is by far the most common of the three in modern rentals.
Since Awaab's Law, damp and mould in rented homes carry real consequences for landlords, and the government guidance on the health risks of damp and mould makes clear it can no longer be dismissed as a lifestyle issue. Where condensation is the cause, better ventilation and heating usually solve it. Where a leak is behind it, our plumbing team fixes that first. Once treatment is complete our decorators put the room back to a lettable standard.
